iSmart Workspace is a robust enterprise mobile application built with Flutter to centralize essential workplace operations into a single platform.
The application enables employees to scan documents and generate PDFs, communicate with colleagues in real time, submit and track IT support tickets, and manage assigned workplace assets.
The project follows a scalable Feature-First Architecture with Riverpod for state management, making the codebase modular, maintainable, and easy to extend with new features.
Key Features 📄 Advanced document scanning powered by Google ML Kit. 📑 Multi-page PDF generation with image processing. 💬 Real-time messaging using Socket.io. 🎙️ Audio and image messaging support. 🔔 Push notifications through Firebase Cloud Messaging. 🎫 IT helpdesk ticket creation and tracking. 💻 Enterprise IT asset management. 🖨️ Workplace printer monitoring and management. 🔐 Secure JWT-based authentication. 🔒 Secure local storage using Flutter Secure Storage. 👥 Employee directory and profile management. 🌐 Modular architecture designed for future scalability. Architecture
The application follows a Feature-First Modular Architecture, with each feature organized into dedicated data, model, and presentation layers.
This approach improves separation of concerns, maintainability, scalability, and allows individual modules to evolve independently.
Error Handling
The application uses runZonedGuarded together with a custom error logging service to safely capture Flutter framework errors and asynchronous exceptions without disrupting the user experience.
Problem
The workplace relied on multiple disconnected tools for internal communication, document handling, IT support, and asset management. This created fragmented workflows, made information harder to track, and required employees to switch between different systems to complete daily tasks.
Solution
iSmart Workspace was developed as a unified mobile platform that brings essential workplace operations together in one application. It provides an advanced document scanner with PDF generation, real-time messaging, IT helpdesk ticketing, and workplace asset management. Firebase was integrated for push notifications, Socket.io for real-time communication, and secure local storage for sensitive information.
Architecture
The application uses a Feature-First Modular Architecture where each feature contains dedicated data, model, and presentation layers, while shared functionality is centralized inside the core and shared modules. Riverpod handles state management, Dio manages REST API communication, Socket.io powers real-time communication, and Firebase Cloud Messaging handles push notifications. This architecture reduces coupling and allows new features to be introduced without major changes to the existing codebase.
Challenges
Building a reliable real-time messaging system supporting text, images, and audio. Handling document and PDF uploads while supporting offline scenarios. Integrating Google ML Kit to provide a professional document scanning experience. Protecting authentication tokens and sensitive local data. Managing complex states across tickets, assets, and employee data. Maintaining a scalable modular codebase as the number of features increased.
Results
The result is a unified enterprise mobile application that provides employees with a single access point for multiple workplace operations. Users can communicate in real time, create and track IT support tickets, scan documents into PDFs, and access assigned asset information through one consistent experience. The modular architecture also provides a strong foundation for introducing additional workplace modules and services in the future.
